The Press
The facts are real. The rest is ours.
Press materials, sources, and a human who answers.
01 What Is True
Read this part twice.
Real, and reported elsewhere. Every item below happened, and the link goes to the outlet that covered it.
- In August 2026 a U.S. executive order directed the Interior Department to record Lake Ontario as “Lake America” in the Geographic Names Information System. It governs U.S. federal usage only. The lake’s name has not changed in Canada. CBS News
- The U.S. Mint published designs for a 2026 Semiquincentennial President Donald J. Trump $1 coin. CNBC
- Canada’s counter-tariffs took effect on 8 September 2026, on $27.6 billion of American goods. Department of Finance
- On 21 September the President said the United States was working on a deal to buy Belarusian potash at “substantially less than we are currently paying to Canada.” The following day Belarus’s president said his country has none to spare. The Globe and Mail
Ours, and invented. None of the following is real, and no part of it has been proposed by anyone but this website.
- The Jabroney itself. No government has proposed renaming the U.S. dollar. This website proposed it, and this website is one person.
- The five denominations, and all coin artwork.
- The register of twenty-six American things renamed without asking.
- Both games, and every distance, odds and ranking in them.
- Every exchange rate here. Nothing converts, nothing is sold, and no coin exists.
02 The Boilerplate
Take it as it is. No need to ask.
One sentence.
The Jabroney is an independent Canadian satire that renames the U.S. dollar, because the U.S. renamed Lake Ontario.
One paragraph.
The Jabroney is a satirical naming proposal from the Unofficial Canadian Naming Department, an independent one-person Canadian project with no affiliation to any government. After a U.S. executive order directed American agencies to record Lake Ontario as “Lake America,” the department proposed renaming the U.S. dollar the Jabroney, and has since issued five denominations, a register of twenty-six American things renamed without asking, and two games. Nothing is sold and no coin exists.
